Message of the Month: Exercise Recovery
Many of us work very hard and consistently to achieve optimal results in our training. But a very important element part of a fitness program is exercise recovery. In order to perform optimally your body needs to recover and regain energy sources for the next intense workout.
So here is a list of thirteen exercise recovery methodologies:
1. Stretch - Relieves tension and tightness in muscles
after the workout.
2. Sleep - We need at least six hours of sleep every
night.
3. Nutrition - As discussed in April 2005 newsletter, balanced meals are crucial for exercise
recovery.
4. Massage - Relieves tension, tightness, and lactic acid
in muscles.
5. Epsom/Dead Sea Salt Bath - Relieves tension, tightness,
and lactic acid in muscles.
6. Heat Therapy - Steam room, hot showers, heat packs
relieves tension and tightness in muscles.
7. Ice - Helps heal strain muscles or tendons.
8. Chiropractor - Keeps the spine in optimal condition so
that all organs functioning optimally.
9. ElectroStimulation - Treatment for muscle
strains.
10. HydroTherapy - Contrast bathes, whirlpool help relieve
tension, and tightness in muscles as well as
help heal injuries.
11. Accupuncture - A traditional Chinese medicine
technique for unblocking the chi by inserting needles
at
particular points of the body, injuries or pain areas, to balance opposing forces.
12. Accupressure - Is an ancient Chinese healing method
involving application of pressure to certain
meridian points on the body to relieve pain.
13. Diathermy - Deep tissue heat treatment to relieve
muscle spasm and tension.
As Hippocrates said over 2000 years ago "A wise man should consider
that health is the greatest of human blessings, and learn how by his own thought
to derive the benefit from his illnesses."
